Today all types of social networks emmerged, lead by the online communicator's sensation FaceBook and Twitter and on a professional level LinkedIn is with the top as well. Following and maintaing those seperated networks can mean a lof of work and for the user of those networks, many redundant steps have to be taken to share your identity.
This problem leads into the introduction to the developement of a technology that allows users to share their personal information across social networks through the use of their mobile phone.
For the course User Interface Design from my University, we started to develop such a technology, gererally by scanning a QR-code with your smartphone and sharing your ID through and between social networks, substantially decreasing the effort you make to increase and manage the number of contacts you have on your networks. Currently it's more of an idea then a technology, but because the idea is accepted for developement by our teacher so we sure are going to build it. The project's name is RepreSend, which is a bit dull (to say the least) but heck, it shows a bit of functionality with it and all the cool names with a Q like LinkQ are all taken by greedy companies. :(
For me, it's not only a mandatory idea because we just had to make an idea about solving a problem or improve a certain user expirience (which actually boils down to the same thing), but I hope it might be the start of something that releaves not only my frustration about all the different social media that is thrown and forced at us, but this frustration of others as well. I'm a little bit tired of all types of networks obliging me to take part in it, while just one network with all the functionalities of the other networks combined should suffice as well. The technology we are going to create should temporarely tie those networks together, but actually this shouldn't be necessairy, because there only should be one major social network. Oh well, I guess this growth of the number of (types of ) social networks is just temporary and I'm therefore hopefully waiting untill they are fused into 1 or 2 main social networks.
Social ID's connected and shared as one?
