First of all, welcome back to my blog, for it has been a while since I last did some blogging. Although I mentioned at my first post, that my blog should be updated every week, I failed to do so. If you might be following my blog and was waiting for a new post to arrive, I apologise for that. The reason why I slacked off a bit, was because I think I have a problem with social media being a bit forced upon me. I can understand the natural process of making each other enthusiastic and taking the initiative use social media for my own private purposes, but at the time I had to use social media for school, I never used Twitter or blogging. This casts a unnecessary negative image on social media (at least for me it does) and every time I see a link from Twitter or blogging, it reminds me the fact that I have to use it for school. It’s like everybody just dies to use Twitter and blogging every day, while I just share that extreme interest in using it. I only share what I want to share and forcing information to the world that I don’t want to share is not a nice feeling. Like the feeling that you have to start a conversation about a product that you don’t even want to sell.
It appeares that there are two camps about using Twitter and other social media. Coming from my feeling, I think that quite some people at school have the opinion that you really should use it or at least be a member of it, because it’s the future of communication and you are at the wrong education if you don’t like it very much. The other side of the medallion is formed by people who are not very interested in using Twitter and sometimes post a single thing or don’t use it at all. About the first group, I disagree as strongly as possible with the statement that Twitter should be used by anyone learning Communication & Information Sciences, simply because there are other methods of communication as well and being bound to you social media device, watching updates every 10 minutes, is hell. I think I fall in a partition of the second group who wants to use Twitter and wants to be interested in it, but all by himself and is very much open to use it. For this interest and usage, it’s only a matter of time until I begin to use it, because I clearly can see the advantages of it.
Anyway, that was just something I had to get off my chest and gave me the reason to wait a couple of months to get used to social media by myself. I made a Facebook account, updated it a bit and watched more Tweets and increased the number of people I’d like to follow. The integration of Facebook and Twitter starting to integrate into my social life and I think I’m getting used to it and most of all, I like it!
So now I’m back, I AM going to upload one or multiple blogs every and this time I mean it ;)
Cya soon!
